PMI lists Plus (positive attributes), Minus (negative attributes) and Interesting (interesting attributes) for a certain alternative and scores them.

Executing the Method

  • Generate Attributes

    For each alternative, generate positive attributes, negative attributes, and interesting attributes.

  • Score Attributes

    Score each of these attributes, preferably on a 1-5 scale. Positive attributes get a positive score, while minus attributes get a negative score and interesting attributes can either get a positive or negative score.

  • Sum Scores

    Sum these scores for each individual alternative.

  • Select Best Scoring Alternative

    Make a selection based on the scores, where the best scoring alternative(s) is most likely to be chosen.
