Sweco is a European engineering consultancy company, active in the fields of construction, architecture, and environmental engineering. In the Netherlands, they were looking for a new way to position themselves and hired CreativeSolvers (previously Kraater) to do market research and identify their customer’s needs.
As we always start with something we call UNDERSTAND, the first step was to talk to different people within the organisation, trying to find out who Sweco is, and what the problem was exactly. This helped us to shape the market research that followed. It consisted of two parts, an online survey to quickly get a rough overview, and use quantitative analysis as input for the second part: in-depth interviews both with customers and other companies in the market.
In order to have meaningful conversations, a tool was CREATED to evaluate projects together with clients. This, in a sense, is already outcome #1 of the project, since it helps the people of Sweco to evaluate their projects together with clients, and meanwhile, get important information through the small things people say.
One of the outcomes of the interviews was that people really liked the listening ears. After all, clients want to be heard and understood
After the threefold research, the internal and external outcomes were brought together in order to REINVENT the way Sweco looks at its markets and potential roles. One part of these solutions were the canvases that improve the workflow on project evaluation and customer research.
